The latest United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report indicates that the sharp drop of both prices and investments on oil does not hamper the rise of renewable energies.

Compared to 2014, world investments on renewables increased by 5% to a total of 285.9 billion dollars, surpassing the previous 2011 record that was set at 278.5 billion dollars.

The incidence of new green energy systems, compared to new electrical power systems installed all over the world, has increased by 54% in 2015, reaching almost 135 gigawatts.

This does not take into account all hydroelectric projects above 50 megawatts as the UN does not consider them sustainable or environmentally friendly.
