2014 has been the year of renewable energy.

Analysts of Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) published the latest report and found that there has been a record of investments in photovoltaics and offshore wind.

Last year, the renewable energy sector has reached a +16% increase in global investments.

This 310mld growth is 5 times larger than the 60.2mld one achieved in 2004.

Chairman of Bloomberg advisory committee, Michael Liebreich, states that projections were thought to be around + 10% in 2014, but actual figures have exceeded all expectations.

He downplayed the concerns that collapse of oil prices in the second half of 2014 would obstacle investments in clean energy and confirms that the impact of oil price will effect much more the field of road transport rather than the production of electrical energy.

Globally, the market has shown a dominance of solar energy projects, especially thanks to lower technology costs that has led to a 25% growth in investments.

In the wind sector, instead, the increase was 11%.

Among European countries, total investment increased 3% in the UK to 15.2 billion and 3% in Germany to 15.3mld, while in France it has exceeded 26% to 7 billion dollars, thanks to the construction of the largest photovoltaic plant in Europe (Cestas).
