Esselunga S.p.a., one of the key Italian players in the large-scale retail sector with numerous supermarkets and superstores all over Northern and Central Italy, confirms its commitment to sustainability, as already discussed by President Marina Caprotti, with another concrete action: an E2 model of the Pegasus Wind Turbine sporting the company colors has been placed at its headquarters in Limito di Pioltello.
The Esselunga S.p.a. Energy Team had the inspiring idea to verify – via a pilot installation at their headquarters – if by exploiting wind energy a vertical axis wind turbine can contribute to the energy independence for their stores.
Once the performances of ENESSERE micro wind turbine, which is a little less than 9 meters high, will prove up to the challenge (that is they’ll work even under low wind conditions as in typical urban environments) we’ll soon be able to see these real sustainability symbols even at other stores of the Esselunga S.p.a. group.
