ABBEY COMPLEX OF VALSERENA | PARMA (PR), ITALY

Enessere has been selected to install one of its small wind turbines at the ancient Abbey Complex of Valserena in Parma, as part of an art installation of great cultural value, conceived and created by the artist Silvio Wolf.
Defined as “The Wind Tree”, it will be placed in the abbey’s sculpture garden, serving as one of the main attractions while also providing the necessary energy for the Abbey’s garden, which is soon to be revitalized.
The Abbey of San Martino dei Bocci, also known as Valserena, is referred to as “La Certosa di Parma” in connection with Stendhal’s novel. It is a Cistercian monastery whose foundation was authorized by Pope Boniface VIII in 1298 and entrusted to monks from the Abbey of Chiaravalle della Colomba (Piacenza).
Deconsecrated following the Napoleonic suppression, it was repurposed for various uses: a military garrison, a canning factory, and storage for agricultural tools. Restoration began in the 1980s, leading to the complete recovery of the monastic spaces and the church.
